Site Visit to AiDLab and HKRITA

Technology is undoubtedly changing the fashion industry from design to merchandising. In the age of digital transformation, our industry has been witnessing a shift to relying more on Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI). To adapt to the new trend and gain more understanding of the latest development in this area, the Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries' Association (HKIAIA), Hong Kong Institution of Textile and Apparel (HKITA), Hong Kong Knitwear Exporters & Manufacturers Association (HKKEMA), Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS) and Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium (SFBC) co-organize a site visit to two research laboratories, Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence in Design (AiDLab) and the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) located in the Hong Kong Science Park. 

AiDLab is the first research platform that focuses on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with design, while HKRITA is an applied research centre for the textile, apparel, and fashion industries. The visitors will be able to get a grasp on the research projects that strive to make a positive impact on the fashion industry.  

The visit will be conducted as follows:

- Application is open to HKIAIA / HKITA / HKKEMA / KIDS / SFBC members.

- Limited number of participants are available, and the quota is reserved on a first-come-first-served basis.

Many apparel companies may choose international terms of sale based on various factors such as costs, seller options or perceived ease of transaction. In order to get a grasp of First Sale and Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) Sale for better business strategy, the Hong Kong Intimate Apparel Industries' Association (HKIAIA) has co-organized a webinar with Hong Kong Institution of Textile and Apparel (HKITA), Hong Kong Knitwear Exporters & Manufacturers Association (HKKEMA), Hong Kong Woollen Knitting Manufacturers' Association Limited (HKWSKMA), Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS) and Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium (SFBC), which invites Mr. Roy Delbyck, Law Offices of Roy Ian Delbyck, to share his remarks.

Being affected by the U.S. brands filing for Chapter 11 business bankruptcy, many industry players are now raising concerns in this market situation. HKIAIA has received an overwhelming response for the webinar on Chapter 11 proceedings held on 14 August 2020. Considering that some members may be unable to join on 14 August, there is another round of webinar which we invited Mr. Edward Neiger, a managing partner of the law firm ASK LLP located in the U.S., to have an introductory session for members to understand the unsecured trade creditors in the U.S. bankruptcy proceedings.
